What is it?

meetup.com is an online forum bringing together people with shared passions, like, SALSA or knitting or capoeira or Mandarin, just to name a few. Meetup groups are organized by individuals who sponsor/host meetup events that encourage people to go OFFLINE and meet in the real world and engage in real activities. Yes, we all love typing away into cyberspace, but at some point, we need real human contact. That's why I'm a big fan of meetup.com!

Great features include calender of events with RSVP lists, events rating (to help me improve our meetups), message board, photo albums, file uploads and group email.

Who should join....

We welcome all friendly people, singles as well as couples, who are sincerely interested in the activity. Translate: don't pretend to like an activity just to meet cute girls/guys. Our meetup groups are not targeted to singles, although we do have lots of singles in our groups. I can't promise romantic encounters, but they do happen online and on the dance floor. I'm not responsible for anything that happens there...so hook up wisely!

Maybe I should mention who shouldn't join too...(well, at least the groups that we organize)...stalkers, spammers, promoters of other groups, etc.

Why should you join?

It's free! (ok, that's not a real reason to join, but a good perk!) If you are interested in what's happening in the salsa scene in Westchester and now, Rockland, well, this is the place to be. I also use meetup as a way to schedule special dance workshops and also to communicate to you about weather/class cancellations.
